On Friday evening, I was lucky enough to be invited to the exclusive London launch of the new Mercedes X-Class pickup, as Mercedes-Benz premiered their very first X-Class: a unique pickup that will set new standards.
The launch held at the iconic Printworks building in London centred around ‘#60minuteswithX’ – Giving guests the opportunity to experience the brand new X-Class before everyone else and for a duration of 60 minutes, escape the normal every day London life and experience a breathtaking show, headlined by Tinie Tempah.
My guest for the evening was fellow-blogger Henry Wade, who was equally as excited as I was to see the new X-Class and Tinie Tempah perform a 60-minute set.
On arrival, we were taken back by the venue Mercedes-Benz had created for the evening. Lights were projected onto the six X-Class pickups on display in a range of colourways, bars were stocked with beer from the back of a pickup and photographic and GIF areas were created to capture the night, all to a soundtrack of R&B and Hip-Hop tracks with a DJ playing from the back of one of the pickups!
I was a little confused as I couldn’t see the stage for Tinie Tempah to perform. That was until a huge black curtain dropped to reveal a hidden room! Henry and I managed to bag ourselves a spot at the front of the stage, and moments later Tinie came out to a huge confetti cannon to mark the beginning of the #60secondswithX. I surprised myself with how many Tinie Tempah lyrics I actually knew! (which is always good when you’re right next to the performer!).
The X-Class has been developed with the changing requirements of the international pickup markets in mind. The demand for mid-size pickups with typical passenger car characteristics and comfort features has been steadily on the rise for years. At the same time, the number of pickups for private use is increasing. As the first premium manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is taking these changes into account – based on its comprehensive experience and competence in developing commercial and off-road vehicles, such as the Unimog and the G-Class for tough operation, such as the V-Class and Vito, and passenger cars that uniquely stand for modern luxury and driving pleasure around the world.
Thank you, Mercedes, for a memorable and incredible experience.
